Professional Side Ponytail {2 Minute Style with Video}

There are so many days out of the summer where I like to wear my hair up or off of my neck. This is one of the easiest and fastest styles that I know.

This is one of my go to styles that takes less than 2 minutes.  It is so easy that anyone could achieve this style.

A Professional Side Ponytail

Here is a short video showing you just how I achieve this style in under 2 minutes.

 You are only going to need 3 things to complete this hairstyle: A comb, a clear elastic and a bobby pin. First you need to tease your hair and pull it all off to one side.

Take your clear elastic and secure your hair

Take your clear elastic and tie it around your hair.

Secure your hair with an elastic hair tie

After it is secure, separate  the ponytail in half and pull them in opposite directions to tighten then ponytail.

ta da... you have a side ponytail

Once you have your hair pony in place, use the back of your teasing comb to lift up the hair away from the head.  I love to have extra volume!

Pull some of your hair up for extra volmue

Last but not least, take a small section of hair from the ponytail, wrap it around the clear elastic and secure with a bobby pin.

I hope that this helps and that it makes sense. Do you find yourself running out of quick hair styles and end up wearing the same old ponytail every single day?

  1. Hi – I love your simple hairstyles. I notice your clear elastics always appear to bee so stretchy. I know with you being a cosmetologist and all, you probably have a better brand of them. I have the Goody brand from Walmart. But they don’t have much ‘stretch’ to them. Well they stretch, they just don’t stretch back well, like not real elasticy. Is there a brand that you recommend that is better than would be easy to purchase from retail/drugstores?

    1. Hey Michelle, I will be honest with you… I usually get them from the beauty store although I was in a hurry to get some the last time and I just picked these up at Walgreens. So I would check there, they work great! Good luck and thanks for following along!

      1. Holy Crap. I just picked some up from Walgreens today, ripped them open and stretched them. SO MUCH better. They have stretch. Should stay in my hair much better. Thank you so much. That little recommendations mean a lot, a simple good stretchy clear elastic can make a girl real happy. lol Also – your post awhile back on getting a nail polish top off that is stuck, by hitting it on the concrete. I had this happen yesterday. I used my teeth, was digging through my husbands toolbox looking for pliers, when I thought of that post. I held it like you said, gave it a whack or two on the garage floor and viola – ready to do my nails. It’s those little clever tips that are most useful in life. Thanks girl !!! I just started a new blog, not much on there, I literally started it a couple days ago. http://www.everydaysnapshot.com
