Green River Float {St Patrick’s Day Treat}

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

I hope you get the chance to sit back and relax a little bit today. I know that I will be enjoying this beautiful day!

I just wanted to share with you one of the treats I like to have on St. Patrick’s Day: A Green River Float! This is one of the only days out of the year that I will have any type of soda. I am not a soda drinker although, I do like it in this.

This recipe is so easy. You will only need 2 things.

A perfect St Patrick's Day Treat, A Green River Float!

The first thing you need is a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

The second thing you are going to need is the Original Green River soda.

Here comes the easy part, pour the soda on to the ice cream!

Green River Float this the easiest thing to make for St Patrick's Day!

I am not kidding, it is that easy! Now you can really sit back, relax and enjoy!

I love have Green River Float for St. Patricks day!Ok, I have to be honest with you, this is a newer tradition for me. This was originally Brandon’s family tradition that I adopted a couple of years ago and now I am sharing it with you! It is just like a Root Beer Float only a Green River Float!

Do you have any traditions that you or your family do for St Patrick’s Day that you would like to share? I would love to learn about them and maybe try them myself.

Writing My Christmas Cards

I can’t believe that Christmas is just around the corner. I feel like thanksgiving was yesterday and Halloween was the day before that. I don’t know where the time is going. It is crazy!

I am not not sure if I told you but I had my wisdom teeth out 2 weeks ago and I had to stay in bed for a few day. I am so glad I utilized my time as well as I did. Otherwise I would not have had time to write all of my Christmas cards this year.

There is something so special about walking out to the mail box around Christmas time. Just the thought of opening it up and finding Christmas cards with your name on it. I don’t know what it is, maybe it is the child in me coming out but I absolutely love it. I don’t know if everyone feels the same way that I do but when I write a card I hope it brings back a piece of their childhood or at least a good Christmas memory.

I love mating the ink of the pen with the color of the christmas card!

I love sitting down with a BIG cup or tea while I write my cards.

Writing my Christmas Cards

You can’t forget the Christmas music in the back ground. It really gets you in the Christmas Spirit!

There is something special about getting a Personalized Christmas Card in the mail!

This year I also included a cookie recipe that I thought everyone would enjoy!

Praline Strips

Do you still write Christmas cards? Are you like me and love the thought of getting some in the mail?

Wrapping Your Christmas Gifts!

I love the idea of the entire Christmas season, there is so much joy in the air. I love the smell of all of the freshly baked cookies, the sound of the Christmas music in the background and the beautifully wrapped gifts under the tree. Gifts are a great way to show someone just how much you care about them. What I love about wrapping a gift is the excitement on the persons face who you give it to. When a gift is wrapped nicely it almost makes the gift a little bit more than what is inside. I can’t tell you how many times people have complimented me about the wrapping on my gifts I give. Not only that, now people have been asking me to wrap their gifts for them.

Here is a video showing you just how I wrap a a Basic Box.

I love adding thing to the top of my gifts. It not only adds a pop of color but to make the gift look finish and complete.

I love adding red accents to my gifts

This year I used different kinds of peppermints, bows, flowers and ornaments.

Dressing up your gifts with red Accents.

Here are step by step instructions on how to wrap your basic box.

Wrapping up Shaklee's Nutrition Therapy from Enfuselle1 Messure and Cut Wrapping Paper 2 Fold Paper over you gift 3 Fold the edge of the paper over for a perfectly smooth line.4 secure with a piece of tape.5 Push the Paper from the top of your gift down towards the bottom on the gift.6 Crease the corners of the paper on both ends making them into triangles. 7 Fold the other side in creating a triangle. 8 Fold the Bottom triangle up and secure with tape. 9 Continue the last 3 steps to the other side! Add your Accent color in ribbons a flower and a candy cane and you are done

My siblings love helping when it comes time to wrap.

The kids love helping me wrap Tying Ribbin on my gift.

I just love the end result.

Simple but elegant wrapping

How do you wrap your gifts for Christmas?

Do you have a favorite Christmas color this year?

I hope you are all done shopping and ready to wrap your gifts. I hope this helps!

Cutting Down a Christmas Tree

I can’t believe that December is already here! Although for Chicago it really doesn’t really feel like it. This past weekend was 50 degrees and today was around 70. For as long as I have lived in the Chicago land area (which is my whole life) I can’t remember it ever being 70 degrees in December!

I am going to be honest with you; before this year I had never been to a Christmas tree farm. I have never even cut down my own Christmas tree. My fiancé and his family  go every year to cut down their own Christmas tree as a family tradition. I felt very honored that they invited me along for this family event.

To everyone’s surprise the trees where MASSIVE this year! This farm must have been growing their trees for quite some time because they where huge.

Looking back now, cutting down a tree was pretty easy (considering I didn’t really do anything but pick it out with them and kind of helped carry it! 😉

2012-12-02 11.14.43Brandon had a pretty good eye on this one!

Brandon is 6’1”, just to give you an idea of how big these trees were.

After we cut down the tree (we as in Brandon of course, because I really didn’t do anything). We then had to measure it and cut it again.

2012-12-02 11.36.37

We then carried the tree to the barn.

Here they trimmed it for us.

2012-12-02 11.43.48

Then they shook it out…2012-12-02 11.44.42Bagged it…

2012-12-02 11.45.07

And put it up on the car. 2012-12-02 11.46.06

I do love the idea of cutting down your own tree and Brandon said that we are going to keep this tradition! We are both looking forward to our very first Christmas together next year.

Have you ever cut down your own Christmas tree?
What are some of your own family traditions?
