Cleaning Your Winter Boots

I have been talking a lot about Chicago winters and how they take a toll everything. I would have to say that my winter boots take the biggest toll of all. The amount of salt that is laid on the ground to melt the snow is more than enough to to wreck my boots and I don’t take care of them the way I know I should.

How to get salt off your winter boots with DIY wipes.

Here is a short video showing you exactly what I do to not only clean off my boots but to keep them clean as well.

How to get salt off your boots in winter.

My mom (From Parents Of A Dozen) has a great video showing you just how we make these organic handy wipes using an all natural house hold cleaner. I have been using these wipes around my house of over 10 years now and I will never go back to store bought wipes again.

Are your boots having a rough time with all of this winter salt? Do you even live in place where there is salt because the snow is never ending?

Thanks for following along!

DIY Leg Warmers In Less Than a Minute!

When it comes to winter I can’t stand the cold weather, although living in the Chicago area you have no choice. Winter comes every year and there is nothing you can do about it, except prepare for it!  I am the queen of bundling up: leg warmers, scarfs, coats. You name it and I have about ten of them. When you are out of the house my theory is “You can always take layers off, but you can’t put more on”!

Now that I have made my point that I like to layer in the winter, I want to share with you one of my favorite layering tricks. I LOVE wearing leg warmers to help keep my leg extra warm and to make my outfits look nicer. Although I am not a fan of the generic looking leg warmers, the ones that all look the same except in different colors. My Sister-In-Law reminded me of an old trick I once knew about turning your old sweaters into leg warmers. It is super easy and takes less than a minute!

this was easier than I thought and took less than 1 minute

Here is a video showing you just how I made these leg warmers.

You only need an old sweater and fabric scissors.

Turn an old sweater into leg warmers

Hold out one sleeve nice and straight.

Use an old sweater sleeve to make leg warmers

Cut from the under arm area to the top of the sleeve.

Cut the arm off your old sweater sleeve to make your own leg warmersDo the same to the other side. That is all there is to it.

DIY leg warmers out of old sweater sleevesI love the idea of making your own leg warmers out of old sweater sleeves.

I love all the different kinds of leg warmers

Do you wear leg warmers in the winter? I have something extra special for you so I will ask you only one thing. Make sure you don’t throw away the torso part of your sweater, I have a surprise for you coming next week. I know you are going to love it, so make sure you subscribe to my blog so you don’t miss a thing!

DIY Detangler / Leave-in-Conditioner (My Most Used Hair Product)

Imagine this: You get out of the shower put a comb through your hair and it actually go though your hair. Then you start to style your hair and it wants to corporate. Better yet, your daughter gets out of bath time and doesn’t scream when you comb through her hair any more. There are not more rats nests and life is simpler. Doesn’t that sound nice? Well… I have the solution, “The Prosante DYI Leave in Conditioner”.

I can’t tell you how many times a week I use this product not only on myself, my family members as well as every single one of my clients. For to many years I was spending a fortune on ready made leave in conditioners and detaglers. I personally think that everyone should use some sort of leave in conditioner everyday. It will truly make a huge difference in your life when it comes to styling your hair and the over all condition of your hair. Our hair really takes a beating from day to day, everything from the blow dryer, curling iron / flat iron to the sun, the wind to the harsh chemicals in the air.

We really have to do everything we can to take care of our hair. Our hair is one of the things we are going to have to live with for the rest of our lives and we should start treating it that way.
