Marry The Person You Can’t Live Without – Wedding Wednesday!

When I first started dating and was considering marriage, my sister Bonnie told me something that I have never forgot. She said “You don’t marry a person just because you can see yourself with them, you marry them because you can imagine your life without them.” I have kept this statement close to my heart and I have never forgot it.

Marrying the love of you life that you can't live without.

A lot of people have asked me, “When did you know that Brandon was the one for you”? Can I be honest with you? When I first met Brandon I had just got out of a relationship and I wasn’t interesting in being in another one for a long time.

Although there was something about him that made me want to spend more time with him. After hanging out with him for a couple of months as friends, I didn’t know what came over me but deep down in side of me I knew something felt right. I was always happy when I was with him.

When he finally came around to asking me out, I couldn’t be happier! He was everything I every dreamed of in a guy, almost to good to be true. We were completely opposite in so many ways and yet we go along so well. I never believed people when they would said that opposites attract, I do now!

Even with all of our differences we got a long great and we spend the next 2 years growing to love one another more fondly. I can’t exactly pinpoint the time I knew Brandon is the one for me. But I will tell you this: Brandon treated me like no guy has ever treated me. He was a gentleman that respected me and showed me how a mad should treat a women. He was always there when I needed him, whether I asked him to be or not. He always put me before himself, not to mention he made sure that when I was hungry he made sure I ate, got me a blanket when I was cold and gave me flowers when I was down. It was honestly all of the little gestures of love that showed his true love, well that and he told me everyday! 😉

That and he took care of me when I needed him the most for instant; when I had strep he cared for me, he helped me recover after the extracting of my wisdom teeth and the infection that followed. Her has seen me in ever state, good or bad and took care of me through it all.

Elisabeth Has seen Better Days

I guess to answer that question I would have to say that the love just came softly! But I can guarantee that it is here to stay! I grew to respect and LOVE Brandon more than anyone and as soon as I couldn’t imagine my life without him, I knew he was the one for me. I could cry at the thought of losing him or having to spend the rest of my life without him. God has truly blessed us both and we couldn’t be more grateful

So now I will ask you: When did you know that your spouse was the one for you?

The Story Of How We Got Engaged

Every story has a beginning and you never know when the beginning of your future story will start. When it comes to Brandon and my story, it began in the summer of 2010.  I didn’t know it then but when I walked into the bank on July 15, 2010, my life had changed forever. If you would have told me then that my “Bank Teller” was going to be my future husband, I would have thought you were crazy. Although this was the beginning of our story together.

We spend the entire summer together, some would say we were inseparable. It wasn’t until September 7th, 2010 that Brandon officially asked me to be his girlfriend. He took me downtown Chicago and asked me in Millennium Park right next to “the Bean”. This day was very special to us; the beginning of our relationship together as a couple. Little did we know just how important that day was going to be in our future.

A walk through our journey

We went back to the city each year on our anniversary. We love being able to spend the day in the city.  We never like to do the same thing twice, except for “the Bean” of course. It really gives us a chance to see all of the wonders of Chicago.

Spending the Day in Chicago by the Bean in Mellennium Park. The place we got Engaged

On our 2 year anniversary, Brandon took us back to Millennium Park. We had someone take a picture of us in the same spot that he asked me out and then he gave me a big hug and kiss. He then told me how much he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. To my surprise he then got down on one knee and lovingly looked into my eyes and said:

“Elisabeth, 2 years ago today I asked you to be my girlfriend and today I have one more question for you.” He then pulled out the ring and then said “Will you marry me?”Brandon Preposed next to the Bean downtown Chicago in Millennium Park After we spent the day around town, Brandon and I had dinner reservations at the Signature Room on the 95th floor of the John Hancock. It was the perfect way to end a perfect day. Not only did we get to see the entire city’s skyline but we also had the privilege of watching the sun set during our amazing dinner!

During dinner we had plenty of time to talk about setting the day for our big day! I am excited to announce to you that we will be married September 7th, 2013! September 7th is going to be a day that I will never forget!

Do you remember a special day in your life that you will never forget? Are you married? How did your husband propose? Do you have any advice that you would like to share with me?

Cutting Down a Christmas Tree

I can’t believe that December is already here! Although for Chicago it really doesn’t really feel like it. This past weekend was 50 degrees and today was around 70. For as long as I have lived in the Chicago land area (which is my whole life) I can’t remember it ever being 70 degrees in December!

I am going to be honest with you; before this year I had never been to a Christmas tree farm. I have never even cut down my own Christmas tree. My fiancé and his family  go every year to cut down their own Christmas tree as a family tradition. I felt very honored that they invited me along for this family event.

To everyone’s surprise the trees where MASSIVE this year! This farm must have been growing their trees for quite some time because they where huge.

Looking back now, cutting down a tree was pretty easy (considering I didn’t really do anything but pick it out with them and kind of helped carry it! 😉

2012-12-02 11.14.43Brandon had a pretty good eye on this one!

Brandon is 6’1”, just to give you an idea of how big these trees were.

After we cut down the tree (we as in Brandon of course, because I really didn’t do anything). We then had to measure it and cut it again.

We then carried the tree to the barn.

I do love the idea of cutting down your own tree and Brandon said that we are going to keep this tradition! We are both looking forward to our very first Christmas together next year.

Have you ever cut down your own Christmas tree?
What are some of your own family traditions?
