Corks, Corks and More Corks! {Wedding Update}

For those of you who know me, you know and would agree that I love the little things in life. I like taking something simple and making it beautiful! I believe that if we took more time to appreciate the little things in life we wouldn’t be so stressed out.

Take corks for instance; they may not seem like much but there are so many thing you can do with something so small. Think about it, corks can also be so romantic. The only place you can get a cork is from a wine bottle and wine is a sure sign of romance.

I can't wait to use these corks at my wedding recieption.

My little brother started collecting corks a long time ago. Needless to say that over the years we have accumulated a good amount or corks. So many, in fact, that my mom started using them as decorations around the house. I am using corks as part of my wedding!

Then one day on Pinterest I came across some really good ideas for different uses for corks. More importantly, corks  that I can incorporate into my wedding day! (You can follow me on Pinterest HERE to get my latest pins.) These are some of the pins I found with corks.

After seeing all of these cute ideas, I gathered all of the corks that my mom had been using as decorations around the house.

Brandon helped me sort them…

And Count them.

I love corks and the fact that they can be used for so many things!

We have more than enough to use for our reception. Now we just have to decide what we are going to use them for.

What do you think we should do with them?

DIY Leg Warmers In Less Than a Minute!

When it comes to winter I can’t stand the cold weather, although living in the Chicago area you have no choice. Winter comes every year and there is nothing you can do about it, except prepare for it!  I am the queen of bundling up: leg warmers, scarfs, coats. You name it and I have about ten of them. When you are out of the house my theory is “You can always take layers off, but you can’t put more on”!

Now that I have made my point that I like to layer in the winter, I want to share with you one of my favorite layering tricks. I LOVE wearing leg warmers to help keep my leg extra warm and to make my outfits look nicer. Although I am not a fan of the generic looking leg warmers, the ones that all look the same except in different colors. My Sister-In-Law reminded me of an old trick I once knew about turning your old sweaters into leg warmers. It is super easy and takes less than a minute!

this was easier than I thought and took less than 1 minute

Here is a video showing you just how I made these leg warmers.

You only need an old sweater and fabric scissors.

Cut from the under arm area to the top of the sleeve.

Cut the arm off your old sweater sleeve to make your own leg warmersDo the same to the other side. That is all there is to it.

I love all the different kinds of leg warmers

Do you wear leg warmers in the winter? I have something extra special for you so I will ask you only one thing. Make sure you don’t throw away the torso part of your sweater, I have a surprise for you coming next week. I know you are going to love it, so make sure you subscribe to my blog so you don’t miss a thing!

Until next time:

My Newest Inspiration!

Have you ever had a time in your life where something inspired you? Something that made you see something you had never seen before. Or maybe look at something in a different way?

There are so many things that can give someone an inspiration. It can be a book, a picture, a song or even a color and I am excited to share with you my newest inspiration. I just can’t seem to get enough of the color purple! Everything purple catches my eye. Although, I am not noticing the light purple as much as I am the deep, rich, eggplant purple! The main thing I love about an inspiration is that it usually is something that you look at and it automatically puts a smile on your face!

When I look at a deep, rich purple color it makes me think of the darkest color of a beautiful sunset and I can almost feel the warmth of the sun at the end of summer. It immediately lifts my mood helps me to remember the little things in life.

Here are a few pictures to help you understand the richness of the color and just how beautiful it is.
